Roe & Co Blended Irish Whiskey

Roe & Co Blended Irish Whiskey

Roe & Co is a blended Irish whiskey produced by Diageo and first released in 2017. It’s aged on ex-bourbon casks for an undisclosed period. It appears to have been blended specifically with the cocktail market in mind. The brand name is a classic “recycled name” ploy which allows them to market with a history they have no relationship to. This whiskey in fact would better be represented with a title such as “Diageo Blended Irish Whiskey”.

Nose: Grapefruit marmalade, orange, clove and vanilla. Mildly woody polenta notes that conjure a thought of bourbon.
Palate: Light. Here’s that pear note they market so heavily. Oats and orange juice.
Finish: Marmalade, artificial citrus flavour, acacia honey and white pepper.
Overall: A reasonably enjoyable Irish whiskey, actually. It’s pretty simple, but I suppose that’s one of its charms, and I found it growing on me.
