Adelphi Glenborrodale Batch 6

Adelphi Glenborrodale Batch 6

Glenborrodale is Adelphi’s line of blended malts, and this is the sixth bottling in that line. Not a whole lot more information is given. This seems to be Adelphi’s table whisky, and a kind of polite departure from the bottlings they’re known for.

This is one of a bunch of whiskies I had recently at a fantastic Adelphi tasting.

1. Adelphi Miltonduff 2007
2. Adelphi Glenborrodale Batch 6
3. Adelphi Breath of Speyside 2006 (10yo)
4. Adelphi The Kincardine
5. Adelphi Bowmore 19yo 1997
6. Ardnamurchan Spirit 2018/AD

Distiller: Undisclosed
Distilled: Undisclosed
Bottled: 2018
ABV: 46%
Age: 8yo
Cask type: Sherry butts
Source: Pour at Apollon, Bergen, Norway.
Setting: Blind (prior knowledge: Adelphi bottling)

Nose: Caramel, oats, pear, popcorn. A walnut character, and a hint of horse blanket. Grain forward.
Palate: Strawberries and cream, hay, a good hit of ethanol.
Finish: Vanilla, strawberry, custard, medium length with a pronounced ethanol character.
Overall: A little grain forward to me, but enjoyable nonetheless. The berries and cream note on the palate is delightful. Amazing that it turned out to be 46%, it tasted much higher. I suppose that’s what happens when you’re brain knows you’re drinking Adelphi blind.
