Ron Millonario 10 Aniversario Reserva

Ron Millonario 10 Aniversario Reserva

Ron Millonario 10 Aniversario Reserva is a Peruvian solera-style rum. It’s composed of a 6 year old bourbon-barrel component aged in Peru, and a 10 year component taken from their standard Solera 15, aged in american and slavonian oak. By whisky rules this has earned a 6 year age statement. It is bottled a respect-shattering 40%, and slightly backsweetened to boot.

Distiller: Ron Millonario
ABV: 40%
Age: 6yo
Cask type: Mix of first fill bourbon and virgin american/slavonian oak.
Source: Pour at Statsraaden Bar, Bergen, Norway
Setting: Unblind

Nose: Vanilla, cinnamon roll, some acetone, pairs, spicy wood. Cinnamon custard. Yum.
Palate: Light, vanilla and baking spice, custard. Not too sweet.
Finish: Delicate, deep honied syrup.
Overall: I was absolutely not expecting this to be so good. It had everything working against it, being 40% and backsweetened, but I was still able to appreciate it. Even though I am really sensitive to added sugar in rums, it must have been a miniscule amount here. It still would have been better with none.
