Cane Island Trinidad Rum

Cane Island Trinidad Rum

This is an Angostura rum bottled by Cane Island. It has been aged for 3-5 years although bottled without an age statement. It has been diluted to 40% and possibly sweetened, but there seems to be no information on the latter.

This is a series of blind tastings from the “24 Rums” advent calendar. I have not looked at what is in the calendar, so every one of these reviews is 100% no prior knowledge.

Nose: Sweet orange blossom honey, marmalade, some clove. Citrus forward, young and sweet.
Palate: Quite sweet, orange infused golden syrup. A spearmint/toothpaste note.
Finish: The wave of sweetness overwhelms all else, plain sucrose with a citrus tint.
Overall: A young and rather uninteresting citrus forward rum that has been destroyed by dilution and backsweetening.
Rank: 3
