Neptuns Rhum

Neptuns Rhum is a young germany rum produced and aged in Germany by Dolleruper Destille. It appears that almost all information to be found on it is in Germany, but it seems to be aged less than 5 years, and we can see from the sample that it has been bottled at 42%.

This is a series of blind tastings from the “24 Rums” advent calendar. I have not looked at what is in the calendar, so every one of these reviews is 100% no prior knowledge.

Nose: Sugared oats, banana candy, corn flakes. Very bright and sweet nose, not a whole lot of complexity.
Palate: Apricot, jolly ranchers, mandarin and porridge.
Finish: Dominant candy notes, mandarin citrus and sugar, again rather simple.
Overall: A pretty simple rum, very sugar and candy driven. Little to no barrel influence showing here. Very bright and young, and happily it doesn’t seem to be sweetened.
