Adelphi Breath of Speyside 2006 (11yo)

Adelphi Breath of Speyside 2006 (11yo)

This is another of Adelphi’s “Breath of Speyside” series, one of which (Adelphi Breath of Speyside 2006 (10yo) (#53/2018-11-13)) I have previously reviewed. The producer of this calendar gives away that, just as suspected in other Breath of Speyside bottlings, this ‘blended malt’ is in fact a teaspooned Sherry butt of Glenfarclas.

This is a series of blind tastings from the “The Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar 5th Edition” advent calendar. I do not know what is in the calendar, so every one of these reviews is 100% no prior knowledge.

Nose: Sherry, sultanas, christmas cake, red apple, heat, some acetone, sweet. A whisper of smoke.
Palate: Sweet, dark sugar, sultana, some sulfur, trails into…
Finish: Biscuit, sweet vibrant red fruit, creamy heat, vanilla, and acetone.
Overall: A really wonderful rich pour with an acetone richness that I can really get into. assuming this is something lightly peated and sherried, and I really dig it.
